The time has finally come for burgeoning UK Hip-Hop artist and London-native Kelz TBK to unveil his highly anticipated sophomore mixtape The Black Kupid II and sees Kelz TBK poised to conquer and leave a lasting impression on the UK Hip-Hop and urban music landscape in 2013.
Jam-packed with fifteen sizzling tracks guaranteed to provide the soundtrack to your Summer, The Black Kupid II features the slick’n’dirty dancehall ditty “Zeus” with rapper du jour Lady Leshurr and “This Girl”, the recently released collaboration with The Voice UK 2012 finalist Vince Kidd which was crowned ‘Track of the Week’ on MOBO.com upon release – “This Girl” blends a classic vocal appearance from Vince Kidd, a sunny Motown vibe with Kelz’s trademark flirtatious rhymes.
The summer lilt also made MTV UK’s coveted playlist with their second collaboration “You and Me” reaching the iTunes UK singles chart while a live performance of this rip roaring record has hit over 1 million views on SBTV which is no mean feat in itself. Also featured on The Black Kupid II mixtape are the infectious and confident “I’m Kool”, the atmospheric and sultry Piano and drums-led “Cross My Heart” featuring 19-year old songstress Reblyne and the hugely personal and hard-hitting “Go Getter”.
Shattering the stereotype that all rappers have to be dripping in bling and bursting with bravado, Kelz isn’t afraid to go his own way. When he’s not in the studio or performing on stage, this far from stupid Kupid works part time at his local Greggs the Bakery, a job he often references in his songs with lines like, “so into stacking Bread, funny how I work for Greggs”. His lyrics shun references to gang culture and Rolex watches in favour of having fun and being young – providing the breath of fresh air the UK Hip-Hop scene is in dire need of.
Having caught the attention of R&B chart topper Angel, Kelz will be supporting the crooner at the much anticipated Streets of Peace Concert in London before embarking on a UK-wide tour with Vince Kidd in July. So legendary have Kelz’s live performances become that news of it has fast spread across the channel to France where Kelz has just been confirmed to play at the glamorous Cannes Film Festival next year.
“I find that in the music Industry; the game right now is so competitive you even find yourself competing with your next door neighbour. I plan to be the best at what I do. I want to be a legend not only in hip hop but in music in general, like my idol Freddy Mercury.” – Kelz TBK
