We had another successful ‘Wednesday Waborita’ with Janice Ross of Cultural Cocktails last night!
We began by discussing the importance of the English language, specifically drawing upon a post by guest author Austin Capobianco. He argues that the power of words, and the media’s influence over them, has caused the term ‘conspiracy theorist’ to gain negative connotations, when all people are really doing is wanting the truth.
The second topic up for discussion was that of a brand new online magazine, which serves to empower women to embrace, explore and celebrate their sexuality. Titled The Scarlet Orchid, you can find out more information at http://www.thescarletorchid.com or on Twitter @AScarletOrchid
We then moved on to those red flags that you should have noticed when starting to date somebody. Do you have any more to add to ‘Signs That Somebody you’re Dating Is Emotionally Unstable’?
Our fourth topic of the evening was that of the taboo subject of relationships with big age-gaps. The specific example we used was the relationship between One Direction band member Harry Styles and his ex-girlfriend UK TV Presenter Caroline Flack.
We chatted about the World Suicide Prevention Day (10th September 2013) and the need for people to do more than simply using a hashtag and then turning a blind eye. There are many people out there who are in desperate need of support and all it takes is one individual to make a difference to somebody else’s life. So please, open your eyes and help those around you.
We were so excited about the evening’s topics, we had to rush through the final one! However, just as interesting as the rest, this post focusses on the Oxjam gig SecretDiamondz Entertainment are putting on in London to raise money and gain exposure for up and coming artists.
If you’d like to have your own news featured on a ‘Wednesday Waborita’ or know a topic you think would be an interesting one to raise, please get in touch!
